Canna Butter Recipe - How to make Canna-Butter

Stress Free Canna Butter Recipe

A good Canna Butter recipe is the foundation for many marijuana recipes. Below we have provided a very simple method of infusing regular butter with the cannabinoids found in marijuana, including THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid that gives users the “high”, or feeling of euphoria and other pleasant effects.

Canna Butter Recipes can be over complicated, but ours is quick easy, and produces a good quality product. The potency depends on the potency of the marijuana. It can be used in just about any recipe that calls for regular butter. Canna-Butter can be used in hot drinks, in cookies and pastries, pasta and breads, or any number of other dishes.

Ingredients:

1 stick salted butter
1/4 ounce of cannabis buds, finely ground in a coffee grinder

Directions:

  • Melt the butter over low heat in a saucepan.*
  • Add the ground cannabis buds, and simmer on low heat for 45-60 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Pour the canna-butter through a fine strainer into a bowl and cover with an air tight lid.
  • Using the back of a spoon push against the plant matter and smash it against the strainer to squeeze out the rest of the butter.
  • Throw the plant matter away.
  • Use your canna-butter immediately, refrigerate or freeze it until it is time to use.
  • Be sure to remove all plant matter. Doing so will increase the shelf life of the butter and reduce the possibility of mold growth.

*A “double boiler” style saucepan is best. This is two pans that nest inside of each other. The bottom pan would hold water, and the pan on top holds the butter. A double boiler heats more evenly and prevents burning your canna-butter.

**You can easily scale this recipe up for larger batches of canna-butter. The potency can also be adjusted by adding either more or less butter, or marijuana. One pound of butter (4 sticks) can absorb a whole ounce of cannabis, but you may want to simmer it for up to 60 minutes.
